This walk covers some wonderful varied scenery to the West and South of Langholm. A mixture of track, open hillside, and a short stretch of very quiet road. Can be wet in places

May 2nd — Lower Tarras Valley: 8 miles. Max Ht. 151m
Start 10am Kilngreen Car Park. Finish Kilngreen. Easy/Moderate
Bring a packed lunch.
This walk which includes the lower end of the Tarras valley from Tarrasfoot Bridge to Cronksbank Bridge. Mostly track and short sections of very quiet tarmac road. Lovely walk through the deciduous woodland along the sides of the Tarras. Can be wet in parts.

July 4th - Meikledale Walk. 9Miles. Max Ht. 526m.
Start at 10.00am Ewes Village Hall (W.Side of A7. 5 miles N. of Langholm G.R.377925). Finish Ewes Village Hall.
Strenuous. Bring a packed lunch
The first and last 3 km (approx) are relatively easy on farm tracks. The central section is open hillside, rough, pathless, often wet and is slow going. Superb views in all directions.

August 1st : Winterhope, Westwater: 8 miles. Max Ht. 280m.
Start at 10.00am at Winterhope reservoir road end 7 miles west of Langholm on B7068 G.R. 269808.
Moderate. Bring a packed lunch.
Mostly track and very quiet road plus a section of open hillside. May be wet. The walk will visit the dam at the reservoir and will be given a history of the reservoir.

September 5th : Westerhall, the Rigg, Mellion Muir, Wolfhope Head, Great Hill, Fell Hill. 9 miles Max Ht 447m.

A gentle walk up the Rigg valley followed by a stiff climb and then a long ridge walk. Excellent views. Track and open hillside, frequently rough.

A ridge walk in between some steep climbs but giving superb views in all directions.

Start at 10.00 am Kilngreen, Langholm
Moderate. Bring a packed lunch.
This is a long but easy walk which takes you up the beautiful Tarras Valley and gives a real feeling of remoteness before returning to Langholm via Whita Hill.
